So anyway, this here is my first post for this new blog, and guess what? I'm full of rum! I love rum--probably to a dangerous level, mind you, but we all have our vices. It's not the only beverage I like, alcoholic or otherwise, but it's my favorite. However, don't get the idea that this blog will be about booze. It will also be about hooch, firewater, and old red eye. Ha!
No, it will mostly be my musings about everyday life and the things that rub me the wrong way. I'm anti-religious and atheist. Although when someone asks, I say I'm a secular humanist. My anti-religion comes from my own life and the things I know and see about religion. The atheism comes from the simple fact that I see no evidence for a god(s). I'm certainly open to the idea of seeing evidence for a god, but until shown otherwise, I must necessarily call myself atheist. However, I do detest most of the gods that people believe in. They all seem to be hateful and cruel. I seriously doubt if a god(s) did exist, and had gone through the effort of creating our universe, that such a being would be as human as most religions make their god to be. Clearly the concept is man made and has no basis in reality.
My greatest love is music. If music was taken away from me I wouldn't know how to live. It's just about the only thing that gives meaning to my life . I'm fond of Electronica and it's various sub-genres. Ambient is my fav at the moment. I'm also into Indie Rock. Coldplay, Editors, and Keane are few favs--but I have many more. I'm sure I'll make posts about other bands in the future. I'll be buying a concert film from a band called Sigur Ros in a few days that I'm sure I'll comment about.
I don't have any love for politics or politicians. I don't trust any of them. I guess I'd call myself a Libertarian, although I can't really say my beliefs line up with any one party or philosophy.
